Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Patient Portal, and how can I enroll my child?
The Patient Portal is a secure method for patients to access, communicate, and receive information related to their electronic health record (EHR) online. Patients who are web enabled may access the portal securely with their username and password. The Patient Portal is an easy way to get in touch with the healthcare staff at First Step Pediatric Associates. It is a secure, internet application that allows you to:
  • Send messages to your child's provider, nurse, or FSPA staff member.
  • Access visit summaries from each encounter at FSPA.
  • View previous or upcoming appointments.
  • Request medication refills and specialist referrals.
  • Examine your statements and pay your bill online.
Ask a front office staff member to enroll you in the Patient Portal.  Provide them with an active email address, and within 24 hours you will receive an email from our office that includes a username and temporary password along with a link to the portal.  Click here for more detailed instructions.
How do I make a payment online?
Online payments must be submitted through the Patient Portal using a debit/credit card, HSA card, or FSA card.  Click here for more detailed instructions.
How do I get to the Patient Portal?
You can gain access to the portal login page either by clicking the button above or by clicking on the link within the instructional email.
Is my child's health information safe?
Associates of FSPA have made significant investments to secure our patients' information. We currently meet all regulatory requirements for security of our network and data. Information on the Patient Portal is protected as part of your child's electronic health record.
Is the Patient Portal good for my urgent needs?
The portal is to be used for obtaining general information about your healthcare. It is not to be used for urgent questions or emergency situations that require contacting our clinic.  It is also not meant to take place of office visits or diagnoses that require on-site evaluation.
Can I enroll all of my children in the Patient Portal program?
Yes, when contacting our office to request enrollment, simply provide the name of each child you wish to admit.  An active email address must be attached to each child's profile for successful admission.
What happens if a child has multiple guardians that need access to a child’s account?
There will only be one unique username and password assigned for each child. It is up to the child’s guardians to determine if they want to make the decision to confidentially share the account information to gain access to the child’s health records.
What do I do if I forget my username or password?
For security, please do not contact our office by phone to recover a forgotten username or password.  In the event you forget your login information, select the “Trouble logging in” link that is in the login section of the Patient Portal home page. Follow the prompts and/or answer the security question entered when you created your account.  Should you need further assistance, feel free to contact our office at that time.
Are children who are established in foster care programs eligible to enroll in the Patient Portal?
Any child who is known to be in a foster care program will be considered ineligible for the Patient Portal due to privacy and confidentiality concerns.
